Via St. Gallen or the Toggenburg you reach Appenzell in about an hour and a quarter. A detour to the Schwägalp and the Säntis fits in easily.
We take you to the Säntis cable car at the Schwägalp or to the Ebenalp cable car in Wasserauen and pick you up again after your trip up the mountain.
The Hauptgasse with its painted houses is a pedestrian zone. We stop at the edge of the village centre or in front of your hotel; at the Hof Weissbad we drive right to the entrance. The Ebenalp cable car leaves from Wasserauen, and the Säntis cable car from the Schwägalp.
On the last Sunday in April the citizens of Appenzell Innerrhoden vote in the open air on the Landsgemeinde square. In early summer the herders take their cattle up to the alpine pastures, and in autumn they return in traditional dress — customs you experience like this only here.
